Adrian Garcia is the Sheriff of Harris County, Texas. He defeated Tommy Thomas in 2008,[1] who had been the sheriff for 14 years. Adrian Garcia spent 23 years with the Houston Police Department before serving as Sheriff to Harris County. Former Houston Mayor Bob Lanier appointed Sheriff Garcia to the position of HPD’s liaison to the Mayor’s Anti-Gang Office And in 1999, Adrian was named Director of this anti-gang effort.
After leaving HPD, Adrian served six years as a Houston City Councilman eventually becoming Mayor Pro-Tempore under former Mayor Bill White.
